The owners of the newest hotel in Cairns are offering a 30-year term to the buyers of the lease.
The Abbott Hotel also is being offered in an outright sale.
Builders are completing a $1.8 million restoration of the former Great Norther Hotel in Abbott Street where Queen Elizabeth II stayed before the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.
Marketing agent Shane Mullins said the aim was to make the premises “Cairns’ premier boutique hotel”.
“The Hotel site is located in the heart of the Cairns CBD and has just undergone an extensive renovation/facelift, restoring this spectacular structure to beyond its former glory,” he said.
Mr Mullins said the hotel was over two levels with street-level reception with access to the upper levels through the hotel foyer services by a lift or stairs.
“There will be three flagship hotel executive suites on offer, creating an experience not known in Cairns,” he said.
“The remaining 30 rooms will be superior king suites (27 rooms) and family suites (three rooms).”
Mr Mullins said a fully refurbished licensed restaurant would open next to the foyer.
“The search is on to find an operator with an award-winning /hatted background in Australia,” he said.
“The current owners will spare no expence to find an experienced operator. The restaurant will be renovated to complement the hotel with design and operator.”
Hotel features include marble and glass finishes, top-quality carpets, flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi.
“Cairns is back in the market with a number of exciting projects under construction or set for development across the next year,” Mr Mullins said.
He said the hotel was close to the Reef Hotel Casino, up-market retail stores and the CQ University CBD campus.
“This multimillion-dollar campus will attract thousands of domestic and international students and generate an economic spin-off worth almost $250 million to the local economy,” Mr Mullins said.
“This is just one local initiative that will help drive business through the front doors,” he said.
The hotel is owned by Frank Gasparin, Mark Biancotti, Peter Strangman and Joe and Mary Mohun.
