International awards for hotel collection
Anthony scored seven accollades in the 2013 Epson International Pano Awards with his signature scenes depicting the Gold Coast’s spectacular coastal sweep, dramatic skylines at the edge of the ocean, and atmospheric slices of a city by the sea. Run by the US-based International Association of Panoramic Photographers (IAPP), the Epson International Pano Awards is the largest competition for panoramic photography in the world. His award-winning images, selected from over 4000 photographs by 843 photographers from 57 countries, are among 80 original works now hanging in the guest wings of the five-star Sheraton Mirage resort on the Southport Spit at Main Beach. “I was commissioned by the resort’s owner, Pearls Australasia, to design, produce and curate the artworks for the corridors and guest lounges on the three floors of both guest wings,” Anthony explained. “The project, which includes a large number of prints on canvas measuring two and a half metres long, inspired me to create new images to bring the stunning beauty of the resort’s location into the interior spaces. “The positive response from hotel guests has been particularly gratifying because it gives them perspectives on the region they may not otherwise see, and encourages visitors to explore and appreciate their holiday environment. “It also makes their hotel experience much more engaging and memorable.” Mr Anthony said bespoke photography was an ideal option for new property interiors and refurbishment projects, as a cost-effective means of featuring locally created, original artworks. “There is the added benefit of being able to customise collections to evoke a chosen theme or colour scheme, accent local or regional features and attractions, and individualise properties in a unique and personal way.” During many years as a professional photographer based the Gold Coast, Tom Anthony has specialised in attention-grabbing images primarily for the tourism and property industries. “Aerials are a major focus, so I’ve clocked a heck of a lot of hours in helicopters, and the pursuit of the perfect sunrise and sunset makes for plenty of very long days.” To view all his 2013 Epson International Pano Award-winning photographs go to www.tomanthony.com.au.
