Alex Cook Named Sales Broker of the Year At Industry Awards Ceremony
He’s widely regarded as one of the best in the business, and Alex Cook received official confirmation when he was named Sales Broker of the Year by the Australian Resident Accommodation Managers Association’s (ARAMA).
The best in the management rights industry were recognised by their peers at ARAMA’s inaugural TOP Awards 2019 in Brisbane. With more than 150 industry participants in attendance, the awards recognised the variety of stakeholders instrumental to the strength and success of the management rights industry which generates $55.5 billion to the Australian economy annually.
“In a field that’s often judged on monetary results, it’s great to be recognized for supporting the industry body that stands behind us all” Alex said after the receiving the award.
‘Trevor, his team and the ARAMA representatives around the country do an amazing job, and it is an honour to be associated with them and to receive this acknowledgement”.
ARAMA CEO Trevor Rawnsley said the awards initiative highlighted the professional skills, experience and opportunities within the management rights industry as well as its economic significance.
Mr Rawnsley was also full of praise for Alex, a director and senior broker at ResortBrokers, and said he was leading real and positive change within the management rights industry.
“Alex and Tim (Crooks) have been leading the way for several years now and they’ve not just raised awareness around the benefits of management rights within the industry, but to the wider public as well,” Mr Rawnsley said.
“We’ve been following what they’ve been doing for years and they’ve established themselves as market leaders, and rightly so.”
Alex is now one of the most prolific management rights agents in Australia, having sold around 150 businesses for a combined value of more than $250 million over the last eight years. Along the way, he has notched up several record-breaking benchmarks and has acted on some of the most noteworthy transactions in the industry.
These include the sale of the management rights to the luxury Soul Surfers Paradise tower for $20 million to Mantra Group in 2015 which smashed the Gold Coast’s previous record by almost $5 million as the 77-level iconic beachfront property became known as Peppers Soul.
His other major sales include The Beach Apartments, Beach Haven and Signature at Broadbeach, Australia 108 at Southbank in Melbourne and AVANT in the Melbourne CBD, among many others.
Nowadays, much of his work is on behalf of developers in regards to the sale of significant large-scale off the plan management rights businesses in the traditional Queensland market, although he and Tim have recently been making serious inroads into the Melbourne market.
Husband and wife duo Geoff and Tamara Hussin from Ivory Palms Resort in Noosaville, Sunshine Coast took out one of the other major awards, Resident Manager of the Year Award for Short Stay accommodation, while Michael Mitchell from Moda Melton in Nundah, Brisbane won the Long Stay category.
“Around 38,000 people stay in resident managed accommodation in Australia daily and there is a thriving industry underpinning everything from the upkeep of properties to guest satisfaction,” Mr Rawnsley said
“Our inaugural Resident Managers of the Year have demonstrated the highest professional standards of management rights operators and we hope more people are encouraged by their success to participate in the industry.”
