As featured in the Townsville Bullentin 23rd August 2017.
An idyllic 2.2ha beachfront hotel, motel and caravan park property at Forrest Beach had entered the market with price expectations upwards of $3.5 million.
Resort Brokers Australia has listed the Forrest Beach Hotel, 20km east of Ingham, for sale on behalf of a syndicate of Gold Coast business people who have held it since 2009.
Owners include high profile automotive dealer Brett Frizelle, lawyer Dwane Bugden and publican Neil Haslam.
The sale is being handled by Resort Brokers’ North Queensland agents Shane Mullins and Des Fagg.
Incorporating a boutique caravan park, motel and smartly renovated pub, the Forrest Beach Hotel opens directly onto the beach overlooking the Palm Island group.
Mr Mullins said the 22,000sq m parcel of land formed the real value.
“It is very rare that such a large section of land on the coastline presents to market,” Mr Mullins said.
“With 200 metres of absolute beach frontage, it provides an array of future development possibilities.”
Offering six motel rooms, 52 powered caravan sites and camping for about 200 people, the integrated accommodation and hospitality complex caters for local patrons, day trippers and holiday visitors.
Food and beverage facilities include a large public bar with ocean views, sports bar and function area, gaming room with seven poker machines, beer garden and bottle shop.
Mr Fagg said the owner had been running the property under management.
“This is the perfect time to take the operation to the next level now that the nearby North Queensland Bio-Energy project is cleared for construction to start early next year,” Mr Fagg said.
The $640 million sugar mill, to be built on an 8oha site 4km south of Ingham, will create 450 jobs during construction and more than 250 permanent jobs when fully operational.
“Forrest Beach is a stunning location that boasts 7km of sandy beach with stinger-protected enclosures, excellent beach and estuary fishing, and direct access to the Great Barrier Reef waters and island of the Hinchinbrook region,” Mr Fagg said.
The Forrest Beach Hotel property also includes an on-site manager’s residence, amenities block, guest laundry, games room, commercial catering facilities, and extensive grounds.
