Little Slice of Bavaria Needs New Burger

Andre Jaworski, who left the corporate world in Sydney behind to live on Mt Tamborine, is selling his 16-year creation - the mountain's landmark Barvarian Grill and Brewery.

Mr Jaworski began developing the business after buying a 2.08ha Main Western Rd avocado property in 2002. He started out with the Bavarian Grill Haus restaurant, which today seats 128, in 2008.

He has added a range of venues and attractions including the Red Baron Brewery, Red Baron cellar door and beer hall function facility, a lakeside wedding chapel and an associated rotunda function area.

Mr Jaworski, who went to Bavaria to learn to make lager from a masterbrewer, yesterday said that he was selling to retire.

The 65-year-old former Lend Lease executive is seeking $5.295 million and is marketing the property and business through Greg James and Paul Mueller, of Resort Brokers, and Ross Lukin, principal of L.J Hooker Broadbeach. The business netted $491,000 in 2016-17 on turnover in excess of $800,000.

Mr James said there were opportunities to significantly increase turnover and revenue by fully using what Mr Jaworski had created.

"The property has the ability to deliver an incredibly return on investment, with multiple income streams from diverse cross-pollinating elements, each supporting and driving the others, he said.

Mr James said that despite strong demand from a thriving Tamborine wedding market, the lakefront chapel had rarely been used.

''It has the capacity, however, to handle at least 80 events a year, more if weekday events are scheduled".

The Jaworski property is being sold with development approval, and plans, for a new function facility attached to the chapel and for six luxury cabins.

The Red Baron Brewery was established in 2016 using $500,000 worth of state-of-the-art German equipment.

"It is a computerised system with a fully-automated kegging system... capable of producing 400 bottles an hour", Mr James said.

The Jaworski property includes a five-bedroom owner's residence plus a self-contained one-bedroom unit.
