MiHaven Living’s accommodation portfolio in central Cairns for sale — ResortBrokers
MiHaven Living’s accommodation portfolio in central Cairns comprising three shared-living accommodation properties for students and transient workers has been put on the market for $13.6 million through ResortBrokers’ Far North Queensland agent Leah Bursztynowicz.
Positioned near the Cairns CBD, the three sites — Pembroke Street Apartments, Gatton Street Apartments and Martyn Street Apartments & Sharehouse — were purpose-built for student accommodation between 2018 and 2020.
When international student numbers temporarily declined during the pandemic in 2020, the buildings showed their versatility by transitioning seamlessly without the need for alteration into accommodation for other guest types.
Today, MiHaven Living operates as a hybrid accommodation model, catering to a broad mix of transient guests, including working holidaymakers, young professionals, as well as local and international students attending the Cairns’ campuses of TAFE Queensland, James Cook University and CQUniversity.
National accommodation property agency ResortBrokers has been given an exclusive agency to market the sale of the properties.
ResortBrokers’ Far North Queensland Broker Leah Bursztynowicz, a Cairns’ local, is marketing MiHaven Living with ResortBrokers’ Managing Director Trudy Crooks.
“There’s nothing else like MiHaven Living in central Cairns,” says Ms Bursztynowicz.
“With the continual increase in the cost of construction and limited development sites in Cairns, there are no pending purpose-built short-term/co-living accommodation projects in the pipeline, strengthening the continual high demand and unprecedented high occupancy averaging over 90% at MiHaven Living.”
“Owners James and Sarah Mort are widely respected in the Cairns’ community. As one of Australia’s leading B Corp social enterprises, their business operations include delivering vocational training and supporting employment opportunities. As local developers, they understand what Cairns’ student and transient worker tenants want: affordable accommodation with a youthful vibe and sense of community.”
“MiHaven Living’s incredible occupancy rate shows the popularity of these three properties among their tenant demographics. And reviews on OTAs speak to how much tenants love it.”
“It’s a market I understand very well myself having worked in Cairns’ tourism and hospitality industry for 20 years, particularly with the youth market.”
Each MiHaven Living building contains six apartment townhouses, each with seven private bedrooms with ensuite bathroom facilities, as well as fully equipped communal kitchens, TV lounge areas, laundries and outdoor entertaining areas with BBQ facilities.
Rooms are fully furnished, complete with beds, desks, wardrobes, pinboards and shelving. All rooms have their own ensuite bathrooms and complimentary Wi-Fi.
“You won’t find a better turnkey opportunity in Cairns,” says Ms Bursztynowicz.
“James and Sarah have done what they do best. Developing properties and getting businesses up and running in their initial stages. MiHaven Living is now ready for a new owner.” END
