Norfolk Island resort sold by ResortBrokers
ResortBrokers has settled the sale of one of Norfolk Island’s most iconic resorts, Castaway.
ResortBrokers received over 30 enquiries for the 20-key Castaway, located in Burnt Pine, Norfolk’s largest town. The freehold going concern was bought for more than $3 million by the Bronkhorst family.
Ig and Rolanda Bronkhorst are experienced moteliers who have operated a motel on the Gold Coast for many years. Their son and daughter-in-law, Davin and Annellie, will operate Castaways on a day-to-day basis.
“Norfolk accommodation properties are tightly held, so a resort of this calibre coming to market was extremely rare,” says ResortBrokers’ Managing Director Trudy Crooks who transacted the sale with Queensland Broker David Faiers.
“Our clients Tony and Sarah Watts bought Castaway when it was in receivership and completely turned it around into one of the best properties on the island.”
“We’re delighted to have found them a great buyer by way of the Bronkhorst family to continue the Castaway story.”
“Castaway shows that even the most remote properties attract buyers if you know where to find them. These locations deliver great returns, with their very remoteness being a key draw for many buyers.”
“The Bronkhorsts immediately recognised Castaway’s unique appeal,” adds David Faiers.
“Everyone on the island knows the special place it holds there. The resort has so much to offer — island-style rooms and apartments, a popular bar and restaurant, and the award-winning Norfolk Island Brewing, the island’s only brewery.” END
