ResortBrokers’ Alex Cook wins 2023 REIQ Commercial Salesperson of the Year Award

ResortBrokers Director Alex Cook has won the 2023 REIQ Commercial Salesperson of the Year Award.

Cook picked up the award at the 2023 REIQ Awards for Excellence held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on 28 October.

The award was the first REIQ nomination and win for Cook, who has forged a 12-year career as a management rights specialist that has seen him become one of the most experienced and well-respected brokers in the industry.

Cook joined ResortBrokers in 2011 and became a Director in 2018. In 2021, he was appointed Associate Director of ARAMA, the peak body for the management rights industry representing more than 4,000 operators across the country.

Cook’s REIQ award is his third industry accolade this year, following his 2023 ARAMA Sales Broker of the Year Award in July, and a ResortBrokers’ team award for Management Rights Brokering at The Onsite Manager’s The Awards 2023 earlier this month.

The REIQ Awards for Excellence rewards and promotes excellence in the management and operation of real estate agencies and recognises the contribution of individuals to the real estate profession in Queensland.

Cook’s REIQ win was based on performance in the last financial year and assessed via a points system determined by a panel of judges within the real estate industry.

Cook’s successes in FY23, which helped him take home the REIQ award, included his sales, industry advocacy and mentoring of junior management rights brokers.

His 2023 landmark sales include Drift Palm Cove, which he sold to Dreamtime Resorts for $8 million; the off-the-plan sale of the management rights to Signature Broadbeach, which he sold to Ultiqa for $10 million; and Annexe Apartments, which set a record sale price of $8.3 million as the first large, short-let management rights to sell in Brisbane since Covid.

“Thanks to REIQ for this great honour,” says Cook. “ResortBrokers is now in its 39th year of operation and its success and longevity is down to our teamwork, so I share this award with all I work with, especially in management rights.”
